goLocal - Supporting Local Cultures
Local digital music download ambassadors, TrinidadTunes.com, together with the pioneering business environment audio communications provider, Press Play Jukebox, came together to champion Trinidad & Tobago's local artisans in their dynamic goLocal music initiative.
Local artistes, especially those outside popular genres of soca and chutney, have long maligned the gaping absence of fervent public and corporate interest in and support for the industry. goLocal is all about providing a stage for exposure, a medium by which artistes can showcase their work and develop their potential and further their craft. goLocal aims to support local artistes in an environment of foreign market concentration by providing a broad platform to get their music heard by the masses.
The overarching goals for the goLocal initiative are to:
1. Increase the scope and quality of exposure of local artistes
2. Increase the scope and quality of support for local artistes
3. Build a culture of cooperation with partners and the local music community
4. Create a brand that is synonymous with Trinidad & Tobago’s indigenous art forms
Music, being one of the strongest and most pervasive elements of a culture, is only the beginning however. goLocal has an ambitious vision which encompasses all locally produced art forms - from art to theatre to cuisine, goLocal intends to support Trinbagonian culture at the grassroots.
